The 2025 AFL Grand Final – moments captured on film

Those that know Ky well will understand how much of a passionate fan of Australian Rules Football (AFL) he is! He regularly attends his favourite team, Brisbane Lions, for their games in Melbourne. The past 5-7 years has been a great time to be a Lions fan, and in particular, the last 3 years have been a rollercoaster of highs (3 grand finals in a row). In 2025, Ky, his brother and father all attended the AFL’s biggest game, the grand final, with 100,000 people cheering on the Brisbane Lions and the Geelong Cats. To capture and celebrate some of the moments, Ky decided to take his Sony A7CII camera and Retropia film lens (not a sponsored post) to canvas some of the moments in a timeless fashion.

We love the little Retropia lens as it allows us to take shots that feel like a disposable camera with the utility and quality of a mirrorless camera. We love how some of these shots turned out, and hope you enjoy them as well! For anyone who gets the chance to get to a grand final, especially if it’s your team, we highly encourage you to take the chance!

We started out the day with coffee (Tess joined in – she sadly didn’t get a ticket to the big game), then a breakfast at Crown Casino. From there we enjoyed the walk down along the yarra river to the MCG. You could feel the atmosphere, anticipation, and the vibe that was present as we walked down. The game was something special, and we loved the wild celebrations late in the game. What a day, what a bunch of memories!
