Byron Bay Highlights

Byron Bay Beach australia holiday destination

Byron Bay is one of the crown jewels in Australia’s east coast travel destinations. Warm weather, great venues for dining and dancing, beautiful beaches, noted surf breaks, outdoor activities and an all round holiday feel. In 2021, we were lucky enough to escape the cold of Melbourne, splitting the COVID-lockdowns with great timing and luck, to have a beautiful week long holiday in Byron Bay. Check out some of the photos below, along with a few of our highlights!

BYRON HIGHLIGHTS

1. Spending the mornings in Byron Bay: we loved our mornings in this paradise. A routine of morning swims, exercise by the bay (think yoga or run with beach views), coffee (obviously, see a trend yet?) and more. Hear more about how we spent a morning in Byron Bay.

WATEGOS BEACH

2. Soaking up sun on Wategos Beach: located only a few KMs out of Byron Bay near Cape Byron, Wategos has a beautiful mix of views of the lighthouse, calm crystal clear waters, surfable waves and enough sand to relax and soak some rays. We spent a few days down here and recommend it! However, parking is limited and walking or cycling is likely the best option.

3. Watching the sunsets! We were treated to some beautiful sunsets during our short trip. Head down to the main beach and you may even be treated to a busker to serenade you through golden hour and into the sunset.

4. Killen Falls: You may not know it yet, but Ky is a sucker for a good waterfall. Extra bonus points if you’re able to swim underneath. Killen Falls offers both. It’s a short drive out of Byron, followed by a small walk. It’s important to note that the walk down to the falls is quite steep and uneven so keep this in mind.

5. Walking your way around Byron: the beach, the town, and the lighthouse walk to cape Byron. There’s so many beautiful ways to walk your way around Byron Bay.

6. The food, drinks and coffee’s! Byron Bay has an excellent hospitality scene. We thoroughly enjoyed eating and drinking our way around Byron.
