We visited Queenstown in the autumn of 2026, our second time in this charming mountain town. Perched on the edge of Lake Wakatipu and at the base of so many impressive mountains, Queenstown has spectacular views everywhere you look! If you haven’t visited, we highly recommend that you add it to your list! See a few shots from our gallery below of the visit, and some recommendations for your visit below.

A few recommendations for visiting Queenstown:
- Stay in an accommodation with a view: If you budget allows, stay in an accommodation with a view. Waking up to the mountains and lake is something special. Due to most of the town being perched with a view, it is highly likely you can find a spot that have views.
- Walk along the lakeside: enjoy the views from the edge of Lake Wakatipu. This is the perfect place to spend a sunny morning or afternoon.
- Enjoy the Coffee and Cuisine: There’s lots of options to choose from, but our top picks would be Ramen Ramen by Tanoshi (Japanese/Ramen) and Coffee Jo Good (coffee).
- Day Trips.. check out the amazing day trips to places like Wanaka (but you should stay there not day trip), Moke Lake, up to The Remarkables and Lake Alta, head down to Glenorchy, the wine regions to places like Kinross.. are some great options.
- Hikes! Get out and do some hikes.. whether it be Ben Lomond nearby, Moke Lake or Lake Alya, or the iconic Roys Peak.
