The Redwoods Otways

Redwood Forest Ky

Located in the heart of the Otways, just off the Great Ocean Road, is a stunningly beautiful Redwood Forest. A collection of towering old trees provides a canopy that transports you to a different place. Located 2hours and 40minutes out of Melbourne, or 1.5hours from Lorne, this is a road trip, or a weekend away, that is well worth it. Add on some waterfall exploring, or a cheeky trip down the Great Ocean Road to see other highlights like Loch Ard Gorge, 12 Apostles and Apollo Bay.

Pro-Tip: arrive early, the car park is very small, and the forest is much more enchanting with not many people around.

The Cement Creek Redwood Forest is a similarly beautiful place to explore. Located up in Warburton, 1hour and 30minutes directly east of the city, this forest is worth a wander. Spend some time checking out Waburton, Healesville or The Dandenongs on your road trip out! Make sure to walk through the forest and check out the creek at the end.

Pro-Tip: as above, arrive early, the car park is very small, and can get muddy and tough to get in/out when busy. Plus, the forest is much more enchanting with not many people around. There’s no bathrooms, so be prepared.

Address: Cement Creek Road, East Warburton (Google Maps)

Remember: these are national parks, and beautiful old parts of nature! Don’t leave your rubbish, dogs aren’t allowed, and treat the area with the respect it deserves!
