6 things we loved from our long weekend visit to Port Fairy
Exploring the cute Port Fairy town..
The Port Fairy town is a quintessential coastal town.. sleepy, wide streets, a picturesque harbour, a few beaches (see below), and a town that you can easily walk around. We stayed within a short walk from the Port Fairy town, and found the main town area very walkable. The pubs, restaurants, cafe’s, small shops.. all of them a quaint and photogenic. We recommend you take a stroll through the town, down to the harbour, and soak up the ‘cute town’ vibes.

The stunning Port Fairy beaches
With 2 main beaches, Port Fairy has a beautiful long white sand “East Beach” with calm waters. This is perfect for a walk or a swim, and definitely one to check out (we did multiple times!). There is also the Southcombe Beach, with a little more rugged views and surf breaks. Both are unique and definitely worth visiting. In summer/peak times, the East Beach has a surf lifesaving club and is patrolled. Both beaches are located ~10minute walk from the heart of Port Fairy.

Great coffee in Port Fairy!
You know that 2 Cups of Travel search out the best coffee in any town we visit. Port Fairy has many great options to satisfy those caffeine cravings. Here are a few of our favourites:
- Port Fairy Coffee Roasters: a coffee roaster is always a good option, and this little shopfront is perfect for your morning takeaway specialty coffee as you walk the town of the beaches.
- Bank Street & Co: One of the most popular and “bankable” coffee’s in Port Fairy. We visited multiple times.
- Borough Chambers: Another top pick along Bank Street. Situated in the old bank building, with great coffee!

Check out the local market!
A country or coastal town often has a great market, and Port Fairy definitely delivered. The Port Fairy Community market runs on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month between 9am-1pm. Offering local produce, good food and handmade goods. Worth a visit!
