8 unique locations to fuel your 2025 and 2026 travel planning!
Lake Bled – Slovenia
The charming lake region of Bled is one of Slovenia’s true gems! While not as ‘hidden’ as it may have been a few years ago, Lake Bled is still an underrated location that delivers! Think gorgeous lake views shrouded in mountains, lots of walking and hiking trails of all levels, friendly locals, and postcard photo opportunities everywhere. Lake Bled is one of our favourite spots in Europe and definitely somewhere we would love to return. See our guide to Lake Bled here!

El Chalten – Patagonia
Patagonia is one of the premier hiking locations in South America, and even one of the better hiking towns around the world. Boasting iconic mountain peaks, views everywhere you look, and legendary trailheads of all levels which start right from base of the town. Due to the remote location, El Chalten isn’t as busy as it should be, making it still an unheralded gem. Visit in summer for mild weather and incredible outdoor experiences. See our El Chalten guide which discusses the hikes and more!

Gili Islands – Indonesia
Indonesia is home to many incredible islands, with the most popular being the well known Bali. Situated only a short 2-3 hour ferry away, boasting better beaches, far less crowds and reasonable prices are the tiny but spectacular Gili Islands! Home to 3 small islands, head here for relaxation, beach bars and snorkeling with turtles. See our Gili Trawangan guide here!

Lofoten Islands – Norway
Situated in the remote regions of the Arctic Circle is one of our favourite places in the world.. the stunning Lofoten Islands. Home to incredible nature, world class hikes, and views everywhere, the Lofoten Islands are a gem in Norway’s crown. In summer they become an adventure lovers paradise, and in winter become a haven to watch the Northern Lights. Due to their remote nature, they are still relatively undiscovered, despite the significant increase in tourist interest over the past few years. See our Lofoten Islands itinerary here!

Cefalu – Sicily
The island of Sicily puts together so many things that make Italy great.. amazing food, wonderful history, charming old towns, charismatic locals, and paired with beautiful beaches! Our favourite stop on our Sicilian adventures was the little coastal town of Cefalu. With a gorgeous old town, wonderful views, a postcard harbour, a beach on your doorstep and top class food.. we can’t wait to return. See our detailed Cefalu guide here!

Isla Holbox – Mexico
Mexico is always a 2 Cups of Travel favourite, and in 2025 we ventured to the gorgeous Isla Holbox. Situated north of Cancun, accessible only via ferry, this island is remote enough to deter some of the crowds, but close enough to make it accessible. Think sleepy carless streets, sunny beach days, amazing tacos, and of course that Mexican charm that keeps people coming back. See our Isla Holbox guide here!

Kas – Turkish Riviera
The coastlines in Europe are always popular, with people rushing to Italy, Greece, Croatia, Albania and more. However, we think it might be worth venturing a little further to the Turkish Riviera. Home to gorgeous beaches and cute coastal towns, the location of Kas, situated a few hours away from the gateway city of Antalya, was one of our favourite stops. Think great food, lovely swim spots, relaxing summer days.. it’s a great pick for your Turkish Riviera adventures. See our Kas guide here!

Wanaka – New Zealand
New Zealand is home to some of the most naturally beautiful locations in the world, and Wanaka is one of the best. A charming little town sits by the lake flanked by impressive snow capped mountains. The town is sleepy but atmospheric enough to draw you in. There are some excellent hiking trails nearby, and the locals have the traditional ‘Kiwi’ friendliness. Best of all, it’s only a short road trip drive from Queenstown. See our Wanaka guide here!
