5 hikes that took our breath away

Ryten – Lofoten Islands

This was one of the more picturesque hikes from our visit to the artic archipelago in Norway. While we did a plethora of hikes during our week long visit, the hike to Ryten, located near Ramberg/Flakstad in the heart of the islands was our favourite. Boasting sweeping panoramic views, the effort was moderate, but short enough to be able to bust through it in half a day. If you ever visit Lofoten Islands, make sure to check out our road trip itinerary here!

Laguna Torre – El Chalten

The mountain town of El Chalten, located in Patagonia, is one of our favourite small towns in the world. Boasting the best ‘mountain vibes’, awesome views everywhere, and some many trailheads leaving right from the town. It’s an adventure lovers paradise! The trial itself is one of the top most well known hikes in the region, and for good reason. Is traverses a valley between mountains, ending up at a glacial lake with great views. Any hiking lover would have likely seen images or footage of the iconic PR1 Trail in Madeira splashed over their social media. Oeschinensee – Jungfrau Region

There are mountain lakes and then there’s Lake Oeschinen. Situated in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland, Oeschinensee is a must add to your itinerary in the region. Take a cable car up the mountain (or hike the trail), before choosing one of 2 trails to get to the lake, both offering differing perspectives. One of the trails takes you to the top of the mountain surrounding the lake for stunning views, while the other takes you down into the base of the lake. Both are worth considering. Either way, Oeschinensee is incredible and a must visit! See more of our top picks in the Jungfrau region here!
